Doug discusses his representation of Pennsylvania landowners in various oil and gas related matters.  Explanation of the impact of low natural gas prices on drilling operations as well as gas price impact for gas lease modifications and extensions.  For example, when gas prices are down and company’s contract there is much less drilling and less on the ground projects, but with company contraction follows increases in gas company requests and royalty owner extend and modify gas leases to secure more time to conduct drilling operations.  Doug explains why companies do not want leases to expire, even in down markets.

Doug provides a positive example of an oil and gas lease review and consultation where landowner was being underpaid by Gas Company who was inappropriately taking deductions.  Doug explains how a company employee miscoded the gas lease payments to the landowners Trust and the company was inadvertently taking inappropriate post-production cost deductions for gathering and transportation.  As a result of the gas lease review and consultation, this problem will be corrected which will result in a significant benefit to the landowner.  It is imperative that all property owners fully understand their leases and royalty checks to make sure royalties are being paid properly.
